JEE Main 2027 dates at a glance#
The NTA released a revised exam calendar for 2026 to 27 on 26 October 2026. It replaces the calendar published in September, so dates you saw before that are out of date.
| Event | Date (as reported from the revised calendar) |
|---|---|
| Session 1 registration | Open now, closes 22 November 2026 |
| Late fee registration | 23 to 26 November 2026 |
| Session 1 exam | 20 to 24 January and 28 January 2027 |
| Session 2 exam | 2 to 7 April 2027 |
Reports differ on whether 31 January 2027 is still a buffer day for Session 1. Treat the official notice on jeemain.nta.nic.in as final, and check your admit card for your exact shift.
What did not change#
No change to the subject wise syllabus has been reported for JEE Main 2027. Paper 1 (B.E. and B.Tech) still covers Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. If you are preparing from the current NTA syllabus, keep going.
Registration checklist#
Fill the form once, carefully. Corrections are only allowed in the window the NTA opens later, and not every field can be changed.
- Identity details. Your name, date of birth and parents' names must match your Class 10 certificate exactly. Coverage of this year's form also mentions a re-KYC step through DigiLocker, so keep your DigiLocker account working.
- Photograph and signature. Recent photo and signature scanned to the size and format the information bulletin specifies.
- Category certificate. If you are applying under EWS, OBC NCL, SC, ST or PwD, keep a valid certificate ready. Its validity matters again at JoSAA counselling.
- Class 12 details. Board, year of passing and roll number if available.
- Exam city preferences. Choose cities you can actually reach on the exam morning.
- Sessions. Decide whether to register for one session or both. Your better NTA score across sessions is used for the merit list.
- Save the confirmation page. Download it and keep the application number somewhere safe.
How to use the two sessions#
Session 1 in January is a full rehearsal with real stakes. Most students who improve between sessions do it by fixing a specific weakness, not by studying everything again.
- Before Session 1: finish the syllabus and take full length mocks in your actual shift timing.
- Between sessions: analyse your Session 1 response sheet when the NTA publishes it. Find the topics where you lost marks and the questions you skipped out of fear, not ignorance.
- Before Session 2: take mocks only in the format you will face, and protect your sleep schedule.
After the result: from percentile to college#
JEE Main percentiles turn into ranks, and ranks turn into choices at JoSAA. You can explore past closing ranks with the JoSAA cutoff explorer, check realistic options with the college predictor, and read how freeze, float and slide work before counselling begins.
